Representative Kim Moser (R-Taylor Mill) will serve another term as Chair of the Kentucky House’s Health Committee, House Speaker David Osborne announced recently.
Moser previously chaired the Health and Family Services Committee, but it was split into two separate committees.
“It is an honor to be able to continue to lead the House Committee on Health, and I look forward to the 2023 session and the legislation we will consider,” Moser said. “Splitting Health and Family Services into two separate committees provides us with an opportunity to delve further into the specific issue areas and creates positive change for the needs of those across the Commonwealth.”
While the previous committee split, the new health committee will take on the work of the former Medicaid Oversight Subcommittee, providing additional oversight to Medicaid spending, which accounts for $11.5 billion annually. The new Health Services Committee will focus on healthcare and delivery matters such as public health, Medicaid, mental health and health facilities.
The new Family and Children Committee will focus on child welfare, adult protective services, guardianship, child care and other social service programs and public assistance programs such as TANF, CCAP and SNAP. This new standing committee will also include the work formerly performed by the Child Welfare Oversight.
